The mobile phone market is extremely dynamic and complex. The value of mobile handsets drops rapidly through its life cycle. As an example a phone will typically ½ in value in its first year or availability and be obsolete at the end of the second. The market moves so fast and is so big (approx 1 billion handsets sold per year) it is impossible for the manufacturers to get the manufacturing and distribution of handsets right.
